Base, Rosso

Rosso Conero Traiano

In the name of the company’s second Doc there is a strong reference to the territory, in fact the Roman emperor Trajan left Ancona to conquer Dacia: a Roman emperor chosen for the work of Silvano Strologo, a deep and intense red like the hero of which history tells.

When To Drink

Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar. We recommend you to let the wine ‘breathe’ at least 15-30 minutes before serving

Tasting Notes

Intense dark red colour.
Perfumes at the beginning of ripe cherry or sour cherry (typical descriptor of the Montepulciano grape) little jam, undergrowth, mushrooms, leather, continuing hints of spices, roasted coffee, licorice, smoke and tobacco.
In the mouth good volume with soft evolved tannins, slightly bitter and astringent but not dry in the finish, persistent in the mouth.

Vinification and Refinement

Fermentation (20-25 days) at controlled temperature (22-28°) in French oak vats, with daily manual breaking of the cap, malolactic fermentation and elevation in mainly second passage French oak barriques for 18-24. Aging in bottle for 6 months.

Vineyard

Old vineyard (30/50 years Guyot training), yield per hectare 60ql., harvested by hand and placed in small crates in the second ten days of October.
